Ich dachte, Sumitomo wurde von JCB aufgekauft... 
Ich lasse mich jedoch jederzeit des Besseren belehren

Übrigens arbeitete ich mal in einer Firma, wo wir Sumitomo's gehabt haben. Das waren wirklich super Maschinen 
Mit ca. 14000 Stunden wurden dann die beiden Sumi's gegen 3 Cat eingetauscht. Ich sprach dann mal mit einem Baggerfahrer. Der meinte, der Komfort beim Cat sei ja in Ordnung. Aber halten würden die Cat sicher nicht so lange wie die Sumis 
. Der neue Cat hatte schon mehr Spiel im Hauptarmlager als der Sumi nach 14000 h

Continuing the '90s trend of alliances and joint ventures between large manufacturers, Case Corp., Racine, Wis., and Sumitomo (S.H.I.) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., of Japan, have signed a letter of intent to form a global alliance to market and manufacture hydraulic crawler excavators.
The agreement, announced in late January, builds upon a 1992 North American supply agreement between the two companies for hydraulic crawler excavators.
Case began selling excavators in North America supplied by Sumitomo in 1992. Today, Case offers six Sumitomo-designed excavator models in North America, all in the medium industrial range of 12 to 50 tons.

The somewhat labyrinthine world of hydraulic excavators became a little less complicated recently, as JCB announced the end of its seven-year-old joint venture with Sumitomo and Case provided more details on its alliance with Sumitomo announced earlier this year.
As it ended its joint venture with Sumitomo for the manufacture of tracked excavators, JCB announced that it would produce and sell hydraulic excavators independently.

Ebenfalls im Jahr 1994 unterzeichnet Case einen Vertrag mit dem japanischen Unternehmen Sumitomo Heavy Industries zur Herstellung von Hydraulikbaggern für den nordamerikanischen Markt.
Also liest sich das alles für mich so: Es gab von Sumitomo sowohl eine Zusammenarbeit mit Case (Angefangen 1992), welche 1994 und 1998 nochmals erweitert wurde. Und auch mit JCB gab es eine mit Case und Sumitomo, die 1998 nach 7 Jahren aber wieder beendet wurde.
Und anscheinend gibt es auch eine mit Kobelco von CNH:

Kobelco Construction Machinery and CNH GLOBAL (N:CNH) said today that they have reached an agreement to form a global alliance for the marketing, development and production of crawler excavators worldwide. In addition, the alliance with Kobelco includes distribution of CNH construction equipment in Japan and Asia Pacific region.
The alliance with Kobelco covers CNH brands outside of the Case network worldwide and the Link-Belt network in the Americas, which will continue to be supplied by Sumitomo Construction Machinery in line with the CNH multi-brand and muti-network strategy. The global alliance is subject to the required approval of the relevant regulatory authorities.
Structure of Alliance
In the Asia Pacific region, Kobelco will acquire 100 percent of CNH's construction equipment operations, consisting of Australia, Asia and China. In addition, Kobelco will become an exclusive distributor of the Case and New Holland brands of construction equipment in Japan, Australia and South-East Asia, greatly expanding the product offering for the Kobelco networks in these markets and increasing sales of CNH product as well.
Also sind Case (CNH), Kobelco und Sumitomo wohl recht eng miteinander verflochten?!
Wer was weiß, lasst es uns wissen
Auf der Seite von Sumitomo heißt es, dass die Jahreskapazität bei rund 7.000 Baggern und 240 Asphalt-Straßenfertigern liegt. Gebaut werden Bagger seit 1963. Seit 1975 werden die Bagger im Werk Chiba (40km östlich von Tokio) gefertigt. Im Jahr 2001 wurde der 100.000 Hydraulikbagger gebaut. (hat jemand ungefähre Vergleichszahlen von Liebherr & Co parat?)
Die Modellreihe reicht bis zum SH 800 LHD mit 78,5 Tonnen Eigengewicht und 450-PS-Motor (Isuzu)
