DAC 15.215 DFAEG 6x6 |
In your pictures it's a DAC 19,215 DFA... this truck is based on ROMAN 19.215 DFA chassis and use the CN cabin.
DAC 15.215 DFAEG it's known also like DAC 665 T/G and have single wide wheels on all 3 axles, with off-road tires (like in the photo).
About ROMAN trucks: they are manufactured in Brasov, Romania, under patent, which was legally bought in 1969, from MAN - F8 model. This patent, contained a full range of trucks and buses, which was made under patent, in Romania. I still collect info materials, for a short history, like the SR history, which I posted here too.
About the names ROMAN/DAC: first time, the factory named DAC, first diesel face-lifted SR trucks. After the end of the MAN patent, the factory named DAC all trucks manufactured in Brasov. In present, don't have a logically use for this models - factory named ROMAN or DAC aleatory!
The origin of the names result from:
- ROMAN - come from the ROmanian MAN - "MAN ROmanesc".
- DAC - come from the Diesel Auto Camion.
The other romanian cars names result from:
- Malaxa - come from the name of the owner of Malaxa factories, Niculae Malaxa.
- SR - come from the factory name Steagul Rosu - "red flag".
- Dacia - come from the ancient name of romanian country - Dacia.
- IMS - come from the Intreprinderea Mecanica de Stat - "state mechanical enterprise" - became in time, ARO factory.
- UMM - come from the Uzina Mecanica Muscel - "mechanical factory Muscel" - this name was used by the Intreprinderea Mecanica de Stat, for short time, before became ARO factory.
- M - come from the Muscel - the name of the place where was situated the ARO factory: Campulung-Muscel.
- ARO - come from the Automobil ROmanesc - "ROmanian Automobile".
- TV - come from the name of an oldest romanian regnant, Tudor Vladimirescu; export name was "Tudor".
- OLTCIT - come from the OLTenian CITroen - "CITroen OLTenesc"; export name was "Citroen Axel". Olt is the name of the county, where was situated the Oltcit factory.
- ROCAR - came from the ROmanian CAR; name used by the buses factory Autobuzul, for the last range of models.
Like all romanian auto industry, all brands starts very good and end very bad... and the big no.1 problem, was... quality of parts and manufacture...
ROMAN was't an exception! In the first years, before ending the MAN patent, the quality was realy good. After ending the MAN patent, starting with the models with plastic front grill, the quality start to be lower and lower and the trucks was't the same, like the begining... Most of you, maybe did't seen ever, or, seen only in pictures, but some of you, meet them on roads and you know what I'm talking about.

Hallo zusammen,
